Turnitin originality reports

Turnitin is text-matching software. It cannot make a judgement about whether your assignment is plagiarised. It is the lecturer in charge of your subject who determines the quality of the originality report and assesses whether parts identified by Turnitin as non-original may be reasonably considered as plagiarism. (Plagiarism is defined elsewhere on this website.)

Turnitin scans your paper against the electronic journals in the Proquest database, the Internet, other papers submitted by your classmates for this assignment, as well as all papers submitted into Turnitin since 1998 by students attending Universities and Colleges throughout the world, including most of the universities in Australia.

To view a sample originality report and how it works check out the video on the Turnitin website.

If you have any questions regarding these reports please discuss these with your lecturer or contact the LMS Academic and Learning Systems Support team.
