First Time Users

NOTE : If your class is using the LMS for assignment submission this step is NOT required.
Guide for using the LMS for Turnitin assignments

Who can use Turnitin?

You can only use Turnitin if your lecturer has set it up for your subject. If you are not sure about this ask your lecturer or tutor or check your subject website.

Creating a User Profile

Before you can upload your assignments into Turnitin you will need to set up a Turnitin Account.

  1. Launch your Internet Browser and go to the website: www.turnitin.com (opens in a new window)
  2. Click on "New Users"

    You will then be taken through a number of steps in the Create a User Profile wizard. You will need:

    • Turnitin Class/Section ID & Enrolment Password from your lecturer
    • A valid email address (Please use your <unimelb.edu.au> University of Melbourne email address)
    • To record your Turnitin Password as you need this every time you submit work into Turnitin, for all your subjects

    Your lecturer may set up your Turnitin account for you. If this is the case you will receive an EMAIL from Turnitin with a temporary password. Use this password and your email address to log into Turnitin. Then create your user profile using the wizard.
