Developments in Dealing with Academic Honesty and Plagiarism

Turnitin - now available within the LMS Semester 2, 2007

The Academic Board and TALQAC have recommended that Turnitin Plagiarism Detection ( www.turnitin.com ) Software should continue to be made available to all academic staff.

Turnitin is now available as part of the Learning Management System (LMS) for all subjects from Semester 2,2007. Access the LMS at http://www.lms.unimelb.edu.au. Guides for use of Turnitin in the LMS are available at http://www.lms.unimelb.edu.au/staff/guides/

Faculties, Departments and  individuals who would like to learn more about this text-matching software and how to use the software for assignment submission by their students in the LMS should contact the Academic Support Team at http://www.lms.unimelb.edu.au/help/support_team.html.

Acknowledgement - learning resource now available

Acknowledgement is a set of resources designed to assist University staff better understand and cope with the issues surrounding academic honesty and plagiarism. The site includes a number of units to complete to assist with issues such as writing up your research, reviewer responsibilities, supervising research students, designing student assessment tasks and handling misconduct.

The site has been developed by the Melbourne-Monash Committee for Collaboration in Educational Technologies to encourage among staff observance of legal obligations, policies and procedures, reflective practice and quality in scholarly and scientific work and innovation and excellence in advancing academic integrity.
